THE DEBBIE ROBERTS AWARD FOR VISION AND EXCELLENCE

Felicity was delighted to receive the Debbie Roberts Award for Vision and Excellence following completion of her Garden Design Diploma for her Hampshire Barn project, a complex and innovative design inspired by an Henry van Dyke poem about a sundial linking the overall theme between time and space.

 

The design incorporated key personal and environmental considerations, including a Home Observatory for year-round entertainment and star-gazing.  A sweeping driveway with view of the house and valley leads to a front courtyard paved with multi-hued Purbeck limestone, subtly linking the interior and exterior design of the house. 

 

The rear garden incorporates several secluded areas linked by a network of paths lead variously to a William Robinson-inspired agricultural plot - including circular vegetable garden – and larger plot, where an expanded rockery separates the upper and lower pool terraces.

 

Here, verdant, shrubby and exotic plants create a sheltered, sunny area for relaxing beside the pool alongside a domed, all-season glass lounge area and a pergola walkway with rose-framed views incorporating an outdoor kitchen and barbecue, ultimately providing an exquisite interpretation of the client's brief, as detailed on the Masterplan below:
